When is the green open for play?
Any
time during daylight hours. The green is
usually open on weekday evenings between 7.00 and 9.00, although some
Monday evenings are occupied by League matches. If you want to play
during the day or at weekends - then you can buy a clubhouse key from
the secretary to enable you to get access to mats and jacks. Please
remember to lock the door behind you when you leave.
I'm a beginner – what do I need to play?
Well,
a set of bowls obviously. You can buy
bowls at the Indoor Bowling Centre in Inverness. If you are not quite
ready for that, we have some Club bowls in the clubhouse, as well as
jacks and mats. The other thing you need is a pair of flat-soled shoes.
Ideally these should be bowling shoes, but what matters is that they
have no heels or ridges on the soles. If you are really stuck, there
are some overshoes in the clubhouse, which fit over your own shoes.
How can I find someone to play with?
See
the attached list of members, with phone
numbers. Go on – give them a ring.
Where can I find a copy of the Rules of Bowls?
In
the clubhouse – pinned up on the back
wall.
I could do with some coaching. Is this available?
Coaching
for both children and adults will be
arranged from time to time. Speak to any committee member if you are
interested.
Can I bring a guest to play?
Guests
are very welcome. They pay a fee of
£2 each for a game, and must sign the visitor's book in the
clubhouse.
I would like to play in competitions or league
matches. How do I
arrange this?
There
are competitions throughout the summer
months – both in Cromarty and at neighbouring clubs. Details
of
these are on the notice board in the clubhouse. Teams for league
matches are selected by the club committee. If you would like to play,
make sure they know of your interest.
I'm willing to help maintain the clubhouse, green
and surrounds. How
can I help?
Speak
to any Committee member, and he/she will
welcome you with open arms.
