4 Matters Arising from the Minutes

    1. Alan corrected item 6/2 It should have read ‘Four’ Bowl Pairs – and not

‘Two’.

5 Treasurer’s Report

Sandy reported that we had a balance of £956.45. At the Restoration Village Street Fair, the two club stalls (Lucky Numbers and Charlie Bear) made a total of £388. All agreed that this was an excellent result.

The 50/50 Club now has 12 subscribers, this will give the club a monthly income of £30. He confirmed that he would also accept, from those unwilling to submit a standing order mandate, cheques for £60 covering the whole year. Sandy was congratulated on his work in getting the Draw up and running so quickly.

Alan reported that the final grant claim for Year 1, of our 3 Year Club and Green Regeneration Project, has been submitted to HIE. This should be processed and paid into the Club a/c by the end of next week.

6 Match Secretary’s Report

Earlier, prior to the meeting, the draw for our ‘Open Pairs Competition’ on Saturday 16th September took place. All those present took part.

Andrew was thanked for his excellent work on preparing the Draw Sheet.

Committee members were then shown the new "Cromarty Mains Cup", for

this Competition, the trophy has been donated by Duncan McPherson and

family. Unanimous thanks and delight were expressed by all..

7 Green Keepers Report

Duncan MacNab of Scottish Groundcare had assessed the green last

week. He took a number of core samples that all showed excellent

soil profiles and a marked reduction in the amount of thatch, compared

to last year. He praised the work of our greenkeeper, George Price.

George was thanked for strimming the path and car park bankings.

8 Property Convenor’s Report

There was no report at this time.

  1. Youth Report:

On Saturday 2nd September Shaun Slater and Daniel Mackay attended a

junior singles competition in Invergordon/Alness, and our congratulations

go to Daniel on reaching the semi-finals.

On Sunday 3rd September Shaun Slater and Cameron MacDonald played

for the Inverness and Northern Counties youth teams against Aberdeen

and Grampian Region teams, at Fraser Park BC Inverness. Although

being narrowly beaten by the visiting teams they had thoroughly enjoyed

their day.

10 Correspondence:

Alex tabled a letter from Robbie Russell, Youth Development Officer

for Fortrose Academy and the Black Isle, who was asking about the

possibility of arranging a one day indoor bowling event for the area’s

youth. Alex had replied by email indicating that we would support

any activity promoting youth bowling but would need more details.

The letter was not clear on who was expected to organise the day,

the equipment, and what the aims of the event would be.

11 AOB (the bit about Alex was added to the minutes by the Club President)

Alex Davidson submitted his official resignation as Club Secretary.

Alan asked the committee to join him in thanking Alex, most sincerely, for

standing-in when the last Secretary left at very short notice. Alex was

always there when there was work to be done; no hassle, no arguments, he

saw something that needed doing or someone who needed help – and he

was there with a helping hand – problem solved.

His efforts have been much appreciated by the President and the members

of this Club. His many other local interests over the years means he will be

sorely missed by the whole community. Alex was warmly applauded by the

committee and wished all the very best for his return to Canada, where he

begins a new chapter of his busy life.

Sandy agreed to act as Secretary at the next meeting, where we will discuss

a replacement for Alex’s post.

The Club President was congratulated on being nominated and winning the

Administrator/Volunteer category in the Ross and Cromarty Amateur Sports

Awards 2006

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 4th October in the CBC Clubhouse at 7:30 pm.
