1 Welcome
Alan Hunter welcomed everybody and thanked Alex for stepping
in to replace Maria Busby as Club Secretary.
2 Approval of Previous Minutes
Approved by Sandy Thomson; Seconded by Patsy Thomson
3 Matters Arising
Alex Davidson volunteered to do some research on the internet regarding process for T-Shirts, Sweat Shirts and caps with the club logo affixed.
4 Treasurer’s Report
Sandy reported that we had a bank balance of £1669.88. The Hogmanay dance had made a profit of £625 and unanimous congratulations were given to Brian Cameron and Allan Munro for organising the event and making it such a success.
Club Equipment and Buildings Insurance has been amended to
take into account the new additions.
The Club’s Annual Dinner and Awards Evening, with 24 attending,
cost the Club only £75 with £382 spent and £307 taken in.
The future looks bright.
5 Match Secretary’s Report
Brian had no report but it was agreed to hold a Club Open Competition for pairs and to try to get a date on a Saturday or Sunday in September. Alan H. to contact Bill Gilmour (NBL)
The Ladies Day date, which last year clashed with the Regatta,
will not be changed for the time being.
5 continued Three cups are still missing, the Jimmy Ferguson Cup, a Juniors
Cup and the Ladies Champion Cup, Alan will speak to Rita Portway who might know their whereabouts or who the previous
winners were.
6 Greenkeepers Report
A tree on the adjoining property had been felled and caused damage to the new picket fence. George had repaired it with hard work.
Rink Marking Brackets have now been ordered.
Sandy would look into obtaining material for the ditches. George would look at the walls behind the ditches to determine what could be done.
The aim is to have the green ready for bowling in April.
7 Property Convenor’s Report
Steve had nothing to report. He would look into the cost of new lockers. The present ones were deemed to be too large.
He would also check out the condition of the roof-space timbers
and the likely cost of rewiring the clubhouse.
Steve was congratulated for having set up the Club’s web site (
of improving communications with the membership.
8 AOB
Indoor Bowls: The club would look into the possibility of having youth training in March if the indoor facility was available.
SBA: The Club will join the SYBA (Scottish Young Bowlers
Association) to support our juniors training and competitions but
would not currently commit financially to the various adult
competitions of the SBA, until there is a stronger interest shown
from club members.
AGM:
The AGM will be held on April 20th at Victoria Hall.
Date of next meeting: Wednesday 1st March 2006 at 7.30pm
in the Hugh Miller Institute.
